Doing Your Bit

What Can I do?

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realise the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realise that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world

The Three 'R's

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle
The concept behind the Three Rs is straight forward and common sense really and most effective in that order.

Reduce - Do you need it? Do you need to do?
What is the purpose of floodlighting their neighbours' houses with a 500watt light, when only the back garden needs to be illuminated.
Does your vehicule need to be that big? You could spend the money on something more useful.
Reuse - Can it be reused?
Someone else might have a use for it if you don't - try Freecycle.
When making regular jouneys you could lift share - try these websites.
Recycle - There is Kerbside Recycling of Cans, Paper, Bottles & Textiles.
At the Kingsland Centre carpark (Waitrose) you can recycle:
 - Paper & Magazines,
 - Glass,
 - Textiles,
 - Plastics,
 - Tins & Cans,
 - Yellow Pages, Around the time of the new edition.
At the Pound Lane you can recycle:
 - Paper & Magazines,
 - Glass,
 - Textiles,
 - Book.
